Dalam percakapan yang menanyakan tentang latar belakang keluarga (Asking about Family Background) ada beberapa ungkapan yang biasa digunakan, sebagai contoh di bawah ini :
How many persons are there in your family ?
There are five persons in my family including me
There are five altogether

What does your father do for a living ?
What are your parents ?
My father is a government civil servant

What’s your profession ?
What’s your present job ?
Untuk memahami ungkapan di atas, anda praktekkan percakapan di bawah ini :
Jean : How many persons are there in your family ?
You : There are five persons in my family including me
Jean : So, there are five altogether
You : That’s right
Stiven : How many brothers and sisters do you have ?
You : I have three brothers and two sisters
Stiven : What’s your job ?
You : I’m an accountant
Stiven : Where do your parents come from ?
You : My father comes from Bandung, West Java and my mother comes from South Sulawesi
Sinta : What does your father do for a living ?
You : He is An Architect
