Tujuan
Tujuannya untuk memberi tahu pembaca bagaimana melakukan atau membuat sesuatu.
Informasi dihadirkan dalam suatu rangkaian logika yang dijadikan rangkaian kecil tahapan-tahapan. Kata-kata ekstra biasanya ditulis dalam bentuk present tense.
Contoh umum dari test INSTRUCTION ialah resep.
Jenis-jenis Prosedur Text
Ada beberapa text untuk perintah yang berbeda :
· Text yang menjelaskan bagaimana suatu hal bekerja atau bagaimana menggunakan INSTRUCTION/manual operasi misalnya bagaimana menggunakan video, computer, tape recorder, mesih photocopy, fax dll.
· Text yang menginstruksikan bagaimana suatu pekerjaan khusus dilakukan misalnya eg recipes, rules for games, science experiments, road safety rules.
· Texts yang berhubungan dengan kebiasaan manusia misalnya how to live happily, how to succeed.
Fitur
·
- o Tujuan dinyatakan dengan jelas (often in the heading)
- o Materials – dibuat urutan sesuai tahapan
- o Methode – tahapan-tahapan kronologis dan dibuat urutan
- o Resep biasanya punya dua group instruksi : ingredients and method.
- o Games biasanya punya instruksi how to play, rules of the game, method of scoring, and the number of players.
- o Experimen Ilmiah biasanyamenyertakan tujuan peneliatian, equipment, procedure, observations and conclusion.
- o Focus pada penggeneralisasian daripada individu (first you take, rather than first I take)
- o Pembaca sering dinggap sebagai sesuatu yang umum, ie. pronouns (you or one)
- o action verbs (imperative verbs), (cut, fold, twist, hold etc)
- o simple present tense (you cut, you fold, you mix)
- o kata hubung dengan waktu (first, when, then) are used to connect the text
- o detailed information on how (carefully, with the scissors); where (from the top); when (after it has set)
- o detailed factual description (shape, size, colour, amount)
